Track workouts with Coach Braz start next week

April 19, 2013 by Karen Batt 3 Comments

Professionally-coached workouts for North Shore Striders of all abilities will begin on Wednesday, April 24 at 6 pm (a 5:30 or 5:45 warm-up is better if you can get there that early) at the Peabody HS track just off of Lowell St.

Please note that we are switching the day from Thursday to Wednesday at the coach’s suggestion to give week-end racers more time to recover from a workout before a race. If you want to run Lynn Woods on Wednesdays when they start that series in June, Coach Fernando will be happy to e-mail you the workout.

If you are new to the track or if you harbor bitter memories of high school track back in the day, please relax. Coach Braz has years of experience working with adults of different abilities, from beginners to very experienced runners. Each North Shore Strider joining the fun, will be placed in a compatible group with runners of similar abilities, and coached to work together for the good of each individual. There is even a “walk-until-you-are-ready-to-run” group. Whether your goal is to run your first 5K, or to run a marathon or to run a faster race of any distance, Coach Braz is the coach for you.

Coach Braz likes to customize the workouts to each individual, so try to think about a goal or two for yourself this year. If you signed up for Goal-busters with Neil Bernstein and Tom McMahon, just use those goals.

Are you too old for this? That’s unlikely. Although next week, we expect the oldest participants to be only 70, because the two runners older than 70 who usually attend will be out of state.

Are you too out of shape to go to the track? Impossible! Wait until you see the shape some of us are in after a winter of very little running.

So get ready to avail yourself of the best coaching that money can’t buy: Coach Braz at Peabody HS, 6 pm Wednesdays.

I would like to start running, I’m walking 2.6 miles now with some jogging in between. I have signed for the Louise Rosetti 5k run in June in Beverly and need to get ready for that. I am complete beginner. I would be interested in learning more about your programs

I am very interested in this program. Is it to late to sign up?

    Sincerely,
