Roger Perham Named 2017 Phil Quinn Award Recipient!

October 12, 2017 by Andrew Moore 1 Comment

Update from Michael Pelletier – At Monday’s meeting of the Mill Cities Relay Organizing Committee, Roger Perham of the North Shore Striders was selected as the Mill Cities Relay’s Phil Quinn Award recipient for 2017! Finishing second to Roger in the voting was Doug Bollen of Wicked, another local runner making big contributions to running.

Annually the Mill Cities Alliance recognizes a citizen of the local running community with the Phil Quinn Award for making extraordinary contributions to our sport. The past winners of this prestigious award by their dedication, support, commitment and passion for running have improved our sport immensely.

Among the past recipients you will find coaches, race directors, newsletter editors, webmasters, race officials, club officers, and writers. They are the mortar that holds the organizational bricks of our running community together. These individuals willingly give their time and expertise to make running better for all of us.

Roger Perham becomes the third member of the North Shore Striders to receive the Phil Quinn Award as Roger joins Mike Page (1995) and Gary Freedman (2001). There are 24 other local running luminaries who have received the Phil Quinn Award including Bill Mullen of the Lynn Woods Cross Country races.

Roger Perham will receive the Phil Quinn Award at the Award Ceremony for the Mill Cities Relay which will be held in the Claddagh Pub in Lawrence at 1:30 pm on December 3rd. Come to the Awards Ceremony at the Claddagh Pub from 12 to 2:00 to celebrate with Roger as he receives the Phil Quinn Award for 2017.

Please run on a relay team (the NSS club will pay your entry fee) or volunteer to help at the Greater Lowell Tech School from 8:30-10:15 or do both and then come to the Claddagh Pub for free food (sorry, but you have to buy your own beer) from 12-2 to celebrate another year of running in and near the Merrimack Valley.

It is just wonderful to see the very deserving Roger Perham earn this award. Roger is a strong supporter of our running club – and everyone else’s. He’s a treasure. Good for Roger!
