Rosie tried to recruit a large number of North Shore Striders to compete in the Chelsea Chase 5K, but on one week’s notice it was hard to get big numbers. Instead, Rosie got high quality. In a race with 298 finishers, all six of the North Shore Striders ran with distinction and finished at or near the top of their respective age groups.
Andy Moore was 1st Master and fourth overall; Bill Kobus was 1st Veteran and eighteenth overall; and Mike Pelletier was 1st Super Veteran. Rosie Kyes was 2nd Woman Master and new Strider Vanessa Diranian was 3rd Woman sub-Master. Another new Strider, Brian Kyes, the Chelsea Chief of Police, finished in the top half of the Male Masters division, eleventh out of twenty-five men.
