2026 Lynn Woods Relays

It’s an end-of-summer tradition – the gathering of all the local running clubs to complete a relay of four  2.5 mile laps on a tough course with a killer starting hill and terrain that varies from pine needles to dirt to stones to roots, all on uneven footing.  Even a goat path is thrown in. 

But there’s so much more beforehand behind the scene.  The tents didn’t magically appear.    The groups assembled on Great Woods Road are not just there by chance.  Tons of organizing effort was put into getting them there.  There were the emails, the requests for runners, the sorting of runners by age groups, the organizing and naming of teams, the submission of names of all the teams and runners to the Relay Committee, getting the bibs and t-shirts and then separating them into packets for each team.  And don’t forget the safety pins or volunteers who helped distribute the packets and sign the runners in.  There was the purchase of snacks and ordering of post-race pizza.  All the purchases needed to be transported to the race.  None of this just happened.  It took Jill and her team countless hours to get us all to the starting line.  And on a warm and lovely night, we were there.  Thank you NSS  organizers and participants.

The race started at 6pm and we were off.
