Our NSS teammates ran amazingly this weekend! Melissa Whitten and Nate Ekborg laughed at the 26ish mile Boston Marathon on their way to running the Bristol Lake Waramaug 50 Miler! The picture above is proof of life after said race. Their reward for running such a questionable distance at a quick enough pace, you ask..? Well… I’m glad you asked, because their reward is that they now have to run the Vermont 100 Miler. John Linsley already has to run the 100 Miler, because he foolishly qualified in February. I can only imagine that running the 100 Miler obliges you to then run the Saskatchewan 200 Miler, and then they’ll award you the Narnian 400 Miler, which parlays directly into the all uphill Westeros 800 Miler, known for its arid clime, lack of water stops, and healthy population of ever-circling condors. Melissa placed 17th overall and 5th in her age group with a fabulous 9:05:45 and Nate placed 29th overall and 20th in his age group at 10:21:28. Truly questionable AMAZING accomplishments for such a distance!
Marian Sales and Jennifer O’Neil also represented NSS well! Marian placed 4th in her age group at the Portland ME 10 Miler with a time of 1:36:50. Jennifer placed 6th in her age group at the PNC Alexandria Half Marathon with a time of 2:05:56.
Update…. congrats to NSS teammates Kirk Fackre and Anne Kohler who raced the Ipswich Ale Half Marathon. Both finished 6th place n their very competitive age groups. Kirk finished in 1:58:04, and Anne finished in 2:00:05.
Nice work, Striders!
