New Membership Chair and other highlights from the last board meeting

Marisol
Marisol, photogenic as always

You may have heard by now that our trusted Membership Chair, Tara McGoff, is stepping down to focus on the increasing demands of her paying job. Tara has contributed a lot in her position with the NSS, both welcoming and keeping track of members, along with the monumental feat of helping organize volunteers at the Nahant 30K for the past 2 years. While we will all be sad to see her go, I am happy to announce that the board has unanimously voted Marisol Ficaro in to fill the office. Marisol’s friendly attitude and winning personality, along with her detailed organizational skills make her a shoe-in for the job. We’re very lucky to have her – welcome, Marisol!

Other highlights from last night’s meeting:

  • Save the date for the NSS Holiday Potluck Party and Yankee swap! The party is scheduled for Saturday evening, December 14th. Current club members will receive an invitation via email soon.
  • The Boston Marathon is expecting 37,000 runners next April. Beginning in December, Mary Stevens will be looking for volunteers to help out at the mile 12 water stop. It’s a lot of fun, and a great way to not only watch the race, but to really be a part of it. Consider clearing your calendar to help out on Monday, April 21st.
  • The North Shore Striders will once again be hosting the Nahant 30K next September. Stay tuned over the coming months for more information on how you can help.
