19th Annual Louise Rossetti Women's 5K BEVERLY - The North Shore Striders Women’s Racing Team repeated as team champions on the first really hot night since this year’s Boston Marathon. Sue Quimby (open), Lauren Hamilton (masters), Rachel Stafford (open), Alexandra Kay (girls), and Jennifer O’Neil (senior masters) scored for the team, pushed closely by Tara McGoff (5 seconds behind Jennifer) and Laurie Callaghan (23 seconds behind Tara). In individual competition (5 deep in each age group), Alexandra Kay and Grand Master Nancy Wilson each finished 2nd in their age groups; Sue Quimby took third in her age group; Rachel Stafford and Jennifer O’Neil each earned 4th in their age groups; and Nancy Giannone was 5th Veteran Master. Also participating in this run in honor of Louise Rossetti, the oldest and longest-serving woman member of the Striders were Pattie Clocher, Betsy O’Brine, Lee Benton, Mariellen Hayward, Maureen Kelly, Joan Dailey and Anne Pelletier. Those of us merely volunteering remain in awe of the courage and dedication shown by our sixteen North Shore Strider teammates who laced up their shoes and hammered a 5K without any chance to acclimatize to the heat.
