Marathon Madness - 2005
Last update to this page:   .

current year's Marathon Madness

Most normal people seem to think that runners have a few loose screws. Well, most runners seem to think that marathoners, further, are shy of some cerebral matter, that is, they suffer from Marathon Madness. In that vein, it is my pleasure to present a compilation of the results (and post-mortems) of North Shore Strider marathoners and a list of future candidates for institutionalization.

For those of you who are not familiar with it, there is a particularly virulent form of Marathon Madness, the Boston Marathon Maniacal Obsession. The objective of this mania is to get admitted to the Boston Marathon by running a "Boston Qualifying" (BQ) time. For 2004, these Boston Qualifying times are presented, below.

If that's not enough, the NYC Marathon Qualifying times are even more demanding (NY offers also Half-Marathon qualifying times, which are a bit easier to achieve)! A note for 2005: in each division, NYC has added 5 minutes to the male qualifying time and 3 minutes to the female qualifying time. Questions, issues, comments, e-mail us at:
